Clio pricing in 2026: plans, add-ons, and what a firm really pays
Clio publishes one price: Starter starts at $49 per user per month. Core, Signature and Elite are quoted. Here is what each plan includes, the fees Clio does publish, and what the rest of the stack around Clio costs.

Written by FirmOps, a Vertana brand. We build law firms a firm brain that sits on the case system they already run, and Clio is the one we see most. We do not sell Clio and Clio does not pay us. Everything below about Clio's plans and prices comes from Clio's own pricing pages. Where Clio does not publish a number, we say so instead of guessing.
Clio plans and prices
Clio Manage is Clio's practice management product. It comes in four plans. Only Starter has a published price; the other three show “Get pricing” and go through Clio's sales team.
| Plan | Products | Published US price | What it adds |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | Clio Manage | Starting at $49 per user per month | Contacts, matters, documents, calendar and tasks. Time and expense tracking, online payments, trust and operating reconciliation, and accounting. E-signature (Clio lists 3). Self-serve data migration. |
| Core | Clio Manage | Not published. Clio quotes it ("Get pricing"). | Everything in Starter, plus Clio's AI (bills drafted on schedule, documents turned into calendar events and tasks, client updates drafted from matter activity), the Clio for Clients portal, custom fields, conflict checks, document and matter templates, accounting integrations, apps and integrations, and e-signature (Clio lists 15). |
| Signature | Clio Manage | Not published. Clio quotes it. | Everything in Core, plus unlimited custom roles and permissions, matter stages on a kanban board, automated workflows, custom and scheduled reporting, multi-currency and split billing, unlimited e-signature, single sign-on, live onboarding training, and priority support. |
| Elite | Clio Manage and Clio Grow | Not published. Clio quotes it and labels it "Save over 17%". | Everything in Signature, plus Clio Grow: intake forms, online consultation booking, automated review requests, referral and ad-spend tracking, a website builder, and Grow AI phone, web and email agents, which Clio prices per matter hired with Grow AI's help. |
Every plan includes unlimited document storage, the mobile app, trust account management, accounting, Gmail and Outlook integration, and 24/5 support. Clio's Manage pricing page does not show separate month-to-month and annual-billed prices. It shows the $49 starting price and says cancellation takes effect at the end of your term, whether monthly or annual. Ask which billing term your quote assumes.
What a 5-person firm pays for Clio
Simple arithmetic from Clio's published price, for 5 people who each need a login. Payment processing, add-ons and taxes are not included.
| Plan | Per month, 5 users | Per year, 5 users |
|---|---|---|
| Starter | $245 ($49 x 5) | $2,940 ($245 x 12) |
| Core | Quoted by Clio | Quoted by Clio |
| Signature | Quoted by Clio | Quoted by Clio |
| Elite | Quoted by Clio | Quoted by Clio |
Starter is a starting price, so treat $245 a month as the floor for a 5-person firm, not the typical bill. Firms that need the client portal, templates, custom fields or integrations are on Core or higher, and those numbers come from a quote. If you already pay for Clio, your invoice is the number to use.

Clio's AI products are Clio Work and Clio Manage AI, the AI built into Clio Manage. How they compare with a firm brain that works across Clio and the rest of the stack is on our Clio AI and automation page.
What firms usually pay for outside Clio
These are typical categories, not Clio products and not Clio prices. What each costs depends on the vendor and plan; the calculator lists published list prices with sources and check dates.
- Phones. A VoIP or call-tracking line, billed per user or per number.
- Answering service. Usually per minute or per call package, with people answering live client calls.
- Separate intake or CRM. Firms on Core or Signature without Grow often run a second intake tool, billed per seat.
- Separate e-sign. Per-user plans with an envelope allowance, bought when the Clio count runs out or another team needs it.
- General AI plan. A ChatGPT or Claude business seat for each person who drafts with it.
- Email and files. Google Workspace or Microsoft 365, plus Dropbox, Box or OneDrive if documents live outside Clio.
- Automation glue. Zapier or Make, holding together tools that do not talk to each other.
- Reviews and texting. A review-request or client texting app, often billed per location or per user.
Clio is one line in your stack
The Clio subscription is rarely the whole bill. A firm on Clio usually also pays for phones, email, file storage, an AI plan, and two or three tools that each do one job: a second intake form, a separate e-sign account, a texting app, a Zapier plan holding it together. Most of those bill per user, like Clio, so every new hire raises all of them at once.
That is why we look at the whole stack instead of the Clio line alone. Clio is often worth keeping. The money is usually in the tools around it that overlap with what your Clio plan already does, or that only exist to move data from one system to another.
How firms consolidate around Clio
Clio stays the system of record. Matters, contacts, trust and billing live there. What changes is everything around it.
- Use what you already pay for. If your plan includes e-signature, the client portal or Grow, check them before renewing a separate tool that does the same job.
- Connect instead of copy. A firm brain is an MCP server that connects Clio to your email, documents, phones and the AI your firm already uses, like ChatGPT or Claude. Staff ask it about a matter and it reads the file across systems. It drafts and stages; a person approves anything that goes out.
- Cut the bridges. When the systems are connected, the tools that only existed to bridge them can go where it makes sense: an extra intake form, a per-seat e-sign plan, an automation chain nobody wants to maintain.
Hypothetical example. A small firm on Clio also pays for a separate intake form tool, a per-user e-sign plan and an automation service that copies form answers into Clio. Once a firm brain connects Clio, email and documents, the firm may not need some of those. Which ones depends on the stack, so we map it on the demo rather than promise a number.
FirmOps is not an MSO and does not do case management; your team and Clio keep running the cases. The difference is laid out in law firm MSO vs a managed firm brain. What FirmOps itself costs is on the FirmOps pricing page. Founding cohort pricing: $500 a month maintenance, build fee waived for the first 10 firms.

How much does Clio cost per month?
Clio's plans start at $49 USD per user per month, which is the Starter plan. Core, Signature and Elite are quoted: Clio shows "Get pricing" instead of a number. At the Starter price, a 5-person firm pays $245 a month, before payment processing fees and add-ons. Prices checked November 4, 2026 from clio.com.
Is Clio billed per user?
Yes. Clio prices every plan per user, so the bill grows with the number of people who log in. Subscriptions run on a monthly or annual term. Clio's pricing page does not say whether the $49 starting price is the monthly or the annual-billed rate, so ask when you get a quote.
Does Clio have a free trial?
Yes. Clio shows "Try for free" on Starter, Core and Signature, and Clio Work also offers a free trial. Elite goes through a demo. The trial length is not stated on the pricing page.
What does Clio Manage AI cost?
Clio says AI is included on Core and above as part of the plan, not as a separate add-on. Starter does not include it. Core is quoted, so there is no published price for the AI on its own. Clio Work, Clio's legal research and drafting AI, uses per-user pricing that Clio also quotes.
Is Clio worth it for a small firm?
Often, yes. Every Clio plan includes trust accounting, online payments and unlimited document storage, and Clio is the case system many other tools already connect to. The catch is the gap between plans: Starter has no custom fields, templates, client portal or integrations, so many firms end up on a quoted tier. Get the quote, check which features you will actually use, and compare it with what you pay today across the rest of your stack.
Can I cancel Clio at any time?
Clio says you can cancel at any time, and the cancellation takes effect at the end of your current term, monthly or annual. Clio also says you can export your data in open formats while the account is active or within 90 days of cancellation.
How can a law firm lower its software costs?
List every per-seat tool, then check what your Clio plan already includes before you pay for a second one: e-signature, a client portal, intake through Grow. Keep Clio as the system of record and cut the tools that only exist to move data between systems. A firm brain that connects Clio to email, documents, phones and the AI you already use can replace some of those point tools. The FirmOps software cost calculator adds up the whole stack with Clio in it.
